Day of festival CANCELLED

For the first time in fourteen years, the Romanian Day Festival on Broadway is canceled due to a lack of funds and support from the Romanian government, as well as and an overwhelming majority of our sponsors and fellow Romanians.

We regret this sad and terribly disappointing outcome, especially the impact that it has on all those who have been supporting us and contributing for more than thirteen years.

However, we do want to thank the Romanian Cultural Center in Bucharest and New York, and the Romania Tourist Office in New York for their patronage. We take this opportunity to bring special thanks to all the performers and the volunteers who have tried so hard to make this event happen. Our endless gratitude spirits towards our beloved Diaspora, the young and old and those who were always there for us from the Festival’s launch in the year 2000.

The Romania Day Festival is not about an organizer, a foundation or a sponsor. Our event is dedicated entirely to our beloved country and its people, our culture, ethnicity, values and traditions. The Romania Day Festival represents and recognizes our accomplishments and aspirations going back hundreds of years and remains focused on promoting such values for future generations here and abroad.

We remain confident that our Festival will go on and hope to continue with our efforts in the year 2014, with the kind of participation and contribution that it deserves and is so essential for such national endeavors.

Respectfully yours,

Stefan Minovici
